The original version of ClassX was an interactive lecture streaming system developed by the Image, Video, and Multimedia Systems (IVMS) research group at Stanford University. In the first version of ClassX, videos were viewed in high resolution using a technology called "interactive region-of-interest video streaming". At the cost of recording equipment only, ClassX significantly reduced financial barriers to capturing and publishing educational videos.
